Did you know @AskVenice is building out their own compute and data infrastructure? A question from the $VVV QnA: How will @venice owning their own compute and data center infrastructure impact $VVV burn? @JonShapeShift: "One of the places we're deploying capital is you know building out data centers and owning our own GPUs as much as we can." "This allows us to do a number of things, both from the privacy side of things, but also trying to get our inference margins down. So our expectation is that over time this will help us drive better margins in terms of the cost it actually costs Venice in order to produce inference for users. And the whole idea is if we can get those margins down, then we can use the difference in the margin to help supply more towards buying and burning of VVV." "Increase the margins, get better margins, and be able to route more and more of that to buy and burn VVV."

I discuss the connection between inference and $VVV burn with Jon "Is it the goal for all inference on @AskVenice to burn a little $VVV?" @JonShapeShift's answer: "Without speaking for Venice, that's certainly *my* goal... We want basically all revenue services to feed back down to the revenue economy"

ICYMI: All the Alpha from the VVV call with @JonShapeShift from @AskVenice Kimi K3 dropped, integrated in Venice within hours. How a model is integrated in Venice depends on the provider. K3 is closed-source for now, so Venice has a direct relationship with the Kimi Lab. Since K3 is closed source, you can use Kimi anonymously through Venice, but not privately. When K3 releases open weights, Venice will run the model directly, and K3 will become private and anonymous. Venice maintains 20+ vendor relationships for models/inference. Jon says relationship management is arguably more work than the technical integration. Inference economics. Kimi K3 is now #1 in Code Arena, but at ~90% less inference cost than Fable/Opus 4.6, reigniting the token margins debate. US AI labs charge 40-100x more than Chinese labs, which produce ~90% of the quality. Venice has a structural advantage here. Venice doesn't train models, but it still nonetheless sells inference to them. AI labs bear the cost of training runs, and Venice gets to sell them all the same. Jon flagged a risk here: Labs pushing for regulatory capture is potentially constraining for the 'open-source squeeze' that Venice represents to leading AI labs. VVV Tokenomics: API credit burn Live on July 17: $5 of every $100 in API/credit purchases now buys and burns VVV, closing the last major inference surface that wasn't touching $VVV Subscription burn was running ~$3k/day from signups. Credit Burn added ~$6k/day, so $VVV burn is now at ~$9–10k/day combined. Extrapolating from today's burn levels: ~$10m $VVV/yr burn rate. Jon hinted at the possibility at subscription renewals also adding to the $VVV burn, but emphasized just a possibility. We had a cool discussion about how every time Venice intertwines its business with VVV/DIEM, we get a real-time data feed revealing Venice economics and revenue. Tease: Minds Jon, Erik, and the Venice team has hinted about a new product called 'Minds'. Most people suck at prompting, but a few people have incredible fluency about which models are best for which roles. Mind's allow these savvy devs to build 'Minds' - useful, packaged constructions for easy, powerful outputs. This opens up Venice to being a developer ecosystem with distribution - like an app-store, that Devs can build experiences on. I ask about rev-share for Devs who build highly-used minds... he gave me a wink but nothing more The Lumara Film Festival from @AskVenice and @moonpay is inspiring more creative use of LLMs. There's a $100,000 competition for the best AI-generated films to be submitted and shown at a NYC screening in October. There was also a QnA section, with questions from @Shaughnessy119, @blockworksres, and others concerning Venice owning more GPUs impacting VVV burn, the projection of the flipping of Burn vs Issuance, and more! Why @yan is bullish on $VVV at ~$800M Yan thinks VVV's market cap is the better measure than FDV "market cap and FDV isn't always made equal... [Venice] is one of those scenarios where market cap is actually probably a better representation of the value. ...so then you're looking at pretty low multiples on that front ...And I could see a world where by the end of the year, the token is deflationary"

Venice by Voorhees is the clearest AI growth play A few broad strokes I want to point out 1/ Fundamentals wise Venice has 3 million+ users and Yan is estimating a 12 month forward ARR of ~$260M. This means VVV trades at 2.5x forward revenue (Circulating market cap). This is rare in Crypto especially at a time when stakeholders want real revenue. 2/ Thesis wise people desire private inference while accessing open source models without sending their data to China. This is hard to do (China APIs, or intermediaries that route anywhere). Venice is private and hosts some models on private data centers and some in an E2E TEE Fashion for extreme privacy. Yan covers all of the tiers. Venice solves the market for those who want private inference but can't setup hardware at home and dont want to send data to China. I've talked about this a lot that its very hard to find a subscription service, that is private, lets you access leading open source models with zero data retention. Enterprise wise @YanLiberman is right the enterprise no data retention plans are solid from AI Labs, but they are API based and get very expensive. With Venice you can get similar guarantees on a $68/mo subscription, if you graduate from a user to enterprise API plan for work privacy guarantees your bill goes up 10-20x (this happened to us!). Net I think more enterprises/businesses use venice than we are assuming to save money vs graduating to enteprise AI tiers for similar privacy guarantees. 3/ Founder wise Erik is the guy who took down SBF live on a podcast. He's the guy who got the entire conference going at Permissionless on AI. When Erik eventually goes up against trillion dollar centralized AI founders to share the vision of private/open source AI he will inspire folks and bring them into Venice. The best storyteller is king. 4/ Future wise I think the biggest jump is autonomous agents holding VVV/DIEM, accessing models, earning capital and buying more VVV/DIEM for more usage. Then Agents build out their entire AI economy. Disclosure I am Long $VVV. H/T @ErikVoorhees

If you're curious why $1.5 billion in tokenized t-bills moved from Ethereum L1 to Apotos, Avalanche, Polygon last week look at incentives. BUIDL fees dropped from 50 bps to 20 bps for those chains (and Solana) vs Ethereum - that's $4.5m in annualized savings on $1.5 billion. I don't have insider baseball on this but it's likely BlackRock didn't cut fees because Larry's feeling generous. A simple theory: Aptos, Polygon, Solana, Avalanche are paying BlackRock incentives for this privilege - or else, why only those chains at 20 bps while Optimism and Arbitrum are 50 bps? If you're Avalanche with rich AVAX treasury would you pay a couple million to BlackRock in exchange for #2 on the RWA t-bill charts? Wouldn't be the worst marketing dollars you've spent. And once again we see goodhart's law in crypto - when a measure becomes a target it ceases to be a good measure. RWAs without deep liquidity and DeFi ties to the underlying network are vanity metrics - they don't really need the underlying chain, there's minimal moat. If the theory is right a few lessons: - Untethered RWAs are vanity metrics - Chains are spending for these metrics - "Spending" is token sell pressure There's good BD spend and there's bad BD spend. I'm not sure this is good spend.
