3 posts that completely rewired my long-term investing thesis. Earlier this week, I saw three different pieces of content on the timeline. When I pieced them together, it completely shifted how I view the next bull market. Funnily enough, the first one was from myself. “The last month or so tells me that a 'fundamental season' isn't coming anytime soon. Retail traders still have an appetite for meme's despite being rekt in the past and telling themselves they won't touch them ever again. Peoples memories are short and greed is real.” Even whilst being in a bear market, it's clear that retail are still looking for memecoins and degenerate on-chain activity. The gambling, the dopamine, the hope of getting rich quick is still very real and likely always will be. I don’t hate memecoins, I’ve bought plenty of them in the past. I’ve made some decent money and I've lost some decent money on them like many people. I would really like to see fundamentally solid coins with real world utility, revenue and all the rest of it start to thrive and put crypto in a better light. This may happen one day but I don’t know when. Then I seen (heard) content piece two that consolidated my thoughts on this. FA may thrive one day but meme’s are going no where. It was from @blknoiz06 on @notthreadguy livestream, comparing crypto/blockchain to cities. A city will have different businesses operating within them. We’re talking restaurants, bars, malls, sports facilities, and everything else that brings money to that city. The local mayor might not like every single business but overall, they are all part of a thriving city/ecosystem. ThreadGuy said something along the lines of "you’ve got to take the strip club alongside JP Morgan within a city". Crypto is the same. You might not love meme’s but they are here to stay. They are part of our city and our culture. The sooner you can accept it and see them as an opportunity alongside fundamentally solid coins (rather than picking one or the other) the better. So my thoughts on this were now pretty clear. Bullish on fundamentals AND bullish on meme’s as we come to the end of this bear market and have a big few years ahead. Lastly post number three came long that took this new mindset and applied it to individual coins. This came from @voided and he said “Look for the coins that will still be bullposted in 4-6 months from now Those will be your winners”. This is absolutely right. Your coin can cure cancer but if it has no attention, it’s not going to be a play for this upcoming cycle. I’ve learned this the hard way in the past. So now we piece it all together. Which coins will still be being talked about in 4-6 months regardless of whether they are fundamental coins, memecoins or anything in between? Which coins are going to be the talk of the town (or city)? These are the three on my list without thinking about it too hard… - HYPERLIQUID. I firmly believe $HYPE is going to be the $ETH of 2018 & the $SOL of 2022. It has the fundamentals, the revenue, the narrative and the community. Will it do 100x? No, but for people who aren’t greedy and/or are playing with some decent size, bank it for a 5-10x opportunity. - ZCASH. I think the last year has shown that $ZEC has some unfinished business. I’ll be honest, I don’t love it and I don’t hate it. I probably prefer XMR tbh but the market doesn’t care what I think. Where is the attention? Which coin is going to be talked about more in 4-6 months? - PUMP FUN. This is a funny one because $PUMP usually gets talked about for the wrong reasons. I believe that as meme’s thrive again, pump is going to feel the upside of that as well. It could be the biggest hated rally in the coming years. The key is to put the emotions aside. I no longer care about fundamentals > memecoins. I care about the city of crypto being well rounded and finding the talking points of the city and being part of them communities. On a side note, it’s a fair assumption that one of the biggest talking points hasn’t even been born yet. Something to keep in mind over the next 12-18 months. You can safely disregard a lot of new shiny coins, but keep your eye out for the one that’s different. The one that people gravitate towards. Anyway that’s my ramble over. Hopefully it was useful. Plenty of ops to take profit but I'm still in my position and now at breakeven. $XPL has now been invalidated and in hindsight should have took advantage of the pump a couple days back. The biggest lesson I've taken from trading these things in an environment like this is you have to be in and out with relatively modest targets and frequent profit taking. Liquidity is all over the place right now especially with the BSC hype going on and it adds another element of unpredictability to the charts. Could have played these trades better overall but we learn and keep pushing 🫡
