Charts become way less impactful as you move into small/mid cap land. When you play these <$10B high beta names, you must treat them differently. You aren’t trading a mag7 or gold or bitcoin…these growth names can shred you if you let them. It’s all about sizing, stomaching volatility, trusting your conviction. Willing to debate ofc, but imo charting & technical analysis become borderline irrelevant down here…the story + narrative is everything. - how big can this get? - why? - why now? If I enter $onds, $sofi, $oust, $peng, $open etc etc (not in all of these btw) or literally any other high beta name…I don’t care about the chart that much, I just want to understand 3 things: 1) the exact price *range* I want be scaling in at (ex $onds in $7-$8 range) 2) what exactly invalidates the thesis…can be a technical level or a catalyst breaking (ex $onds weekly candle close under $6.5) 3) why it can potentially 10x…theme, addressable market, leadership, etc Because these charts get “invalidated” literally every day and then pop back or rip up/down and will just frustrate you if you are too focused on patterns, levels, lines, and indicators. You’ll miss the real move every time. tldr for smidcaps- use the charts for high level entry & exits areas, but the STORY will provide the conviction to the stomach volatility that a 10x requires. The company and the stock are like two dogs on the same leash...not the same dog.
