everyone in tradfi knows buybacks are kind of the lowest on the roic totem pole for what companies can do with cash the issue though especially in crypto, is teams struggle with creating alignment with token holders equity holders know there’s alignment because they hold stock so a lot of protocols and tokens have to default to token buybacks to signal alignment with token holders. But, growth is incredibly important, and a lot of times money spent towards growth will be > ROIC than token buybacks The issue is most founders in crypto suck ass at communicating and DEMONSRATING alignment with their communities Communicate the plan, why you think it will be effective, and why it’s good for token holders and the community. Moreover creating situations where the team themselves holds a treasury with their own token included helps here because the story is clear - if we win you win I think buybacks are good but often times over indexed Teams should strive to do better to communicate growth metrics, what they view as big oppys, etc. and give reason for a community to believe in you I realize a lot of founders don’t like sharing metrics etc, but you launched a token. A moat of yours vs a potential competitor isn’t a strategy that you’re doing that they aren’t, it’s in a potentially well-aligned community that can help you 10x distribution if they are empowered to want the thing to succeed
