$USELESS trading down now and still just a good reflection of risk on conditions in specific ways. Onchain has largely been very good the last month with some sol/RH shitcoins doing well but the traditional / lindy memes like pepe/fartcoin/doge/useless haven't had much of a bid. These lindy memes will more go when bitcoin goes IMO and we'll see decent appreciation at that point. I think some sort of long consolidation period would be healthy to see for USELESS and there are a few ways to play this...but definitely not a great active trade right now imo

I wonder if tradfi narratives are going to just slowly cannibalize any crypto narratives that we have since we can trade equities onchain. In the past, if there was something big that came up (ie. a Figure robot folding clothes), us crypto natives would rush to buy anything robotics related (ie. ROBO). These days, you might rather buy something like UNITREE or $BOT for your robotics exposure. Of course this won't work for everything and many crypto narratives are still very natively crypto only. But There are a few others that might elsewhere

road to (hopefully) $30m | month 4 recap the goal, for anyone new: documenting a run from $6m to $30m in spot crypto ($5m start plus $1m added in june), every position shown, the losses too. sold solana near the top last cycle and retired off it. doing this one in public. running tally: $6m start, $10m peak, july closes just under $7m. second down month in a row. monthly grade: D the portfolio looks completely different than it did 30 days ago. here’s how that happened. early in the month i sold the smaller zec and near positions i’d kept. that closed the book on zcash for now. then i changed my mind about something i’d believed for a year and a half. since early 2025 my view was that meme mindshare peaked last cycle and the category would fade. i held that view right up until i kept noticing it stopped matching what i was seeing. it’s the middle of a bear market. prices are down bad. and memes still dominate the conversation. they’re the only corner of crypto where a normal person can still dream about turning $1k into $100k, and retail wants lottery tickets more than it wants anything else. if memes own the conversation now, at the bottom of the fear cycle, i have to assume their mindshare grows when times get good. so i stopped trying to fight what my own eyes were telling me. then the question was how to express the view, because i have no edge in new memes. i’m almost 40. i buy a couple things in size and sit. that’s the opposite of the pump fun meta. so i went looking for memes you can hold. considered doge first. it’s the one meme that survives even if all memes die. passed because it made a lower high last cycle and i couldn’t see the market cap going somewhere that hits my goals. passed from greed, honestly. landed on two. fartcoin, $2.4m: a timeless joke, big mindshare last run, only in its second cycle, down 90%+ from its high, and tied to solana if solana wins again. pepe, $2m: the OG ethereum meme, and a bet on eth itself. sentiment on eth has been in the gutter for years and i’m seeing signs that flips this cycle. if eth runs, its whales get rich, and rich eth whales buy eth memes. pepe also lives outside the solana arena where a thousand new launches a day fight for the same attention. that matters for staying power. that’s the thesis. now the execution, which is where the “D” grade comes from. i had pre set bids on fartcoin at 10, 12, 13 cents. price bounced before filling me. and instead of letting the bids sit, i pulled them and bought everything at 16 cents. the logic in the moment: still cheap enough to hit my target, majors look bottomy, no guarantee we ever see 12c again. well, we saw 12c within a few days. we’re sitting there now. the bids i cancelled would have mostly filled, and i’m down about 20% and roughly $500k on the position, basically without a green day since entry. pepe i bought right after without chasing anything and it’s slightly green. the difference between those two entries is the story of my last two months. hype had a rough july too. big holders unstaked and sold into the 60s and 70s and price bled to the low 50s. i haven’t touched it yet. it made a huge move during a bear market and it’s allowed to rest. so the book now: fartcoin, pepe, hype, and a little cash. $6.96m. how i plan to hold the memes, since they’re a different animal than anything else i’ve owned this cycle: the view i’m taking with the memes is the stop is zero. the risk was taken at entry, in the sizing, and the size is an amount i can ride down hard without it changing my life. so there’s no price where i panic out. price alone isn’t information here. i knew these could drop 30% the week after i bought when i chose the size. what would actually change my mind is staleness. the bet on both of these is that they’re the rare memes with staying power, the ones that catch the wave again when times get good. the fate of 99% of memes is the opposite: each pump smaller than the last, mindshare bleeding to whatever launched this week, until the chart is just a slow fade dotted with bounces too small to see. the tell is participation when money comes back into crypto: if majors recover and fresh memes run while these two lag the move, the staying power bet was wrong and i start looking for the exit. honestly, the staleness risk is bigger for fartcoin than pepe. pepe was an internet meme for a decade before it was a coin and lives on eth away from the solana meat grinder. the market agrees, which is why it costs 10x more. fartcoin is the higher beta, higher risk half of the pair, and it’s also the one where i chased. so the plan is: sit, take the drawdown my entry earned, and judge these on the next real move up, not on the bleed. if a pump comes and one of them isn’t participating, that’s data and i’ll decide whether to act on it. checked the sell framework: nothing close to firing. we’re about as far from euphoria as this market gets. that cuts both ways. it’s why i wanted to be a buyer, and it’s why being early might hurt for a while. portfolio screenshot below. month four done.

$PUMP: Still looks good on the lower time frames but I wanted to talk a bit about the higher time frames- on 1 hand, I think pump is still a great business with lots of 'revenue' (probably a lot of it is fake), a big warchest, and great PMF. It's also got a team that is smart and willing to pivot to new ideas (cross chain, streaming, social, etc). On the other hand, there are unlocks, and unlocks are going to probably push down any future pushes. Now, you can argue that the VCs are simply waiting for bullish conditions to unload their bags and that's totally reasonable. But still, the overhang is a reason why you will always be a bit worried imo. I think about some of the older coins that launched in the bear market (thinking 2023) and then started to unlock in 2024. Coins like ARB are a good example- while the ARB token itself is useless, I still think that the perception back then was quite a bit different and arb is still one of the few chains/L2s that has some traction still today. But I just remember ARB pretty much underperforming everything when the bull market really hit in 2024 and I think it's because of VC unlocks (the counter to this is SUI, which had a decent run). So, great fundamentals + revenue + buying tokens vs. token unlocks. Usually the latter ALWAYS wins this and the buybacks can never overcome the selling...but the timing is always the tricky part about any trade. Do I think that pump is going to be higher than todays prices when the bull market hits? Probably Am I scared as hell about these VCs who have their tokens? Definitely

$CASHCAT move is great but there's a distinct difference between a pure meme (Fartcoin) and a meme that relies on external forces in order for it to go up (ASTEROID , CC). Coins that rely on continued shilling are at the mercy of the shillers and their timeline. It's why coins like ASTER never really picked up and looks like a stablecoin; because it basically relied on CZ to tweet about it (or bnb cabal to move it). I think CC pretty much is in the same bucket; where you need Vlad to keep pinging it. That said, there are still some extra moves to come. Robinhood spot seems inevitable and once that happens, it probably has 1 last big push to 100m and then probably death after. Because at the end of the day, we're trading attention, and there's always something new in crypto

The reason why PumpFun $PUMP trades at a lower revenue multiple than Hyperliquid $HYPE is pretty straightforward: 1. Investors view perps (Hyperliquid) as having more durable revenue with larger future growth potential beyond the crypto sphere, than memecoin launchpads (PumpFun) which are solely retail gambling focused 2. PumpFun has notable team/investor token unlocks creating ongoing sell pressure and VC overhang for holders/buybacks to absorb, whereas Hyperliquid has unlocked/sold only a fraction of what they could have and has no VC overhang to deal with 3. PumpFun sold both tokens and equity to investors, creating a dual token vs equity conflict of interest misalignment problem with unclear boundaries of value accrual, whereas Hyperliquid has not sold equity and just has token 4. PumpFun has already reduced token value accrual from its buyback and burn mechanism from 100% to 50% of revenues, whereas Hyperliquid remains 99% of revenues, discretionary decision token holders had no say over 5. People generally don’t trust the PumpFun team nearly as much as they Hyperliquid, e.g., team promising an airdrop and not doing it, etc 6. Bad vibes associated with investing in memecoin platforms, akin to investing in payday lenders or private prisons, vs Hyperliquid being a more ‘clean’ bet on 24/7 markets that is more Wall Street digestible Could any of this change at any time? Yep, and that’s a fine thesis to have Will HYPE or PUMP perform better in short term? I have no idea, I hope both do well But the difference in historical and current valuation between the two assets is not inexplicable and it’s not just a trust issue

Spot plays rn: First, what are some of the difference between spot and perps trades? The best traders have no difference because they use leverage appropriately but most retail traders have poor execution problems with perps (myself included). it could be sizing too large, cutting the trade too quickly (or holding on too long), and being too indecisive or not thought out. For me, perps are better used for intraday or faster trades in general, while spot trades are better for sitting on a position for days on end (or much more). Spot trades are slower, they aren't going to move immediately, and they require patience. 1 advantage to buying spot for many trades is that the trade idea is well thought out and you also generally get a pretty good entry because it's a buy before the actual big move happens. But you are going to be tempted to chase momentum when different coins move. You need to be pretty confident your coin isn't going to nuke to $0, so coins that have insanely high volatility in the current time are probably not as good spot trades IMO. Ofc you can trade fully with spot for any long any way, nothing wrong with that. It's not as capital efficient but helps against misexecution. Some trades I'm eyeing right now that are a bit slower ones but the charts still look great (IMO): $NEAR: I think this coin is just going to keep chopping around but I think that it's eventually going to have a decent move. It's 1 of the best looking charts in crypto right now IMO. $HYPE: This is also a slow mover, has chopped in this range for the last 2 months or so. I like this time based consolidation and it will take a bit more time before the move to $100 IMO. $XPL: Obviously this 1 got totally decimated but it's down 95% but still has a great team, relevant product, and a narrative that is 1 of the best in crypto. This type of trade could take weeks on end but you almost certainly make a few x from current prices.

There have been a number of extremely strong coins the last 6 ish months. These coins all have something in common: They weren't on anyone's radar from before, had some strong pivot or fundamentals updates, and all did ~10x+. Coins like $VVV, $SYN, $ZEC, and $BP are a few. If you want to find these types of insane runs early, it can oftentimes be difficult. Coins like SYN were especially tough, because it's an older coin and there are a lot of short squeezes on those types of coins. But the next big movers will probably not be your traditional watchlist coins like hype/LIT/those types. Those types of coins are oftentimes too big of market cap, too known, and everyone's already watching. You need to find a coin that is having a big run with some fundamentals pivot (either strong traction like VVV or total pivot like SYN). How to identify? I would look for the first +50% ish move. Again, it's hard to discern if it's just a short squeeze or legit, but finding these moves early is important. I actually saw VVV and BP fairly early but failed to fire. To be clear, these types of moves are clearly different than coins like LAB, SIREN, and all the other scams. These ones I listed are more fundamental value / legit coins obviously. Scams are played totally differently. Anyways, look for the first big move and keep a watchlist. There will be another one of these soon I'm sure.

But the next big movers will probably not be your traditional watchlist coins like hype/LIT/those types. good idea to maybe map out some entries on coins that you like. I'm eyeing a potential rotation back to SOL coins because they've been strong the last day or so ( $PYTH $JTO $JUP $PUMP) but going to probably just observe for now.

As a result gen-z are increasingly choosing lottery tickets over the traditional 9-5 route. Startups, crypto, creator, trading, AI wrappers, whatever gives them a tiny chance of escaping the normal income curve. Because what exactly is the traditional route offering now? Sell your soul for 10–15 years, survive office politics and sacrifice your 20s just to save $100–200k, only to still struggle to buy a house and remain nowhere near the lifestyle you were told the grind would eventually unlock. Meanwhile the internet shows you people your age making life-changing money from one startup, one token, one trade or one viral account. Most will fail and half the winners online are probably fake, but psychologically that barely matters. Once the respectable path promises guaranteed sacrifice for increasingly mediocre upside, variance starts to look rational. Especially when in most Western countries, the welfare state effectively protects your downside, while the upside from one hit remains private and uncapped. When the safe path no longer buys a safe life, gambling stops looking stupid.

I sound like a broken record but I think there are only about 5-10 good altcoins at any given time in the current market conditions. Usually there's some sort of theme and right now, it's all Robinhood related. Coins on my watchlist: $UNI $AAVE $LIT $VIRTUAL Other interesting 1s: $HYPE $ZEC $AERO $SYRUP
